 Gicumbi: Women and youth urged to work with financial institutions

Rwanda Cooperative Agency (RCA) and Business Development Fund (BDF) through Sacco have urged youth and women to be confident and acquire loans for development projects.

This was said on February 25th 2013 during the meeting that gathered officials from the ministry of gender and family promotion (MIGEPROF), ministry of youth and ICT (MYCIT), Rwanda cooperatives agency (RCA) and Business Development Fund (BDF).

The meeting was held in Gicumbi district as a way of encouraging women and youth to work with banks and other financial institutions.

Francoise Mukakarangwa, who chaired the meeting, told women and youth representatives in sectors that getting loans from Sacco is easy the same way BDF provides guarantee for the residents’ projects.

She adds that Sacco signed an agreement with BDF, so after the project proposal is approved; one is entitled to the Sacco loan.

This program is meant to empower women and youth in districts on financial services to reduce on the problems caused by ignorance and hinder development. Mukakarangwa explains.

Samuel Niyonzima, youth representative in Mukarange sector reveals that youth would socially develop if they follow the advice they are given.

Women and youth were advised to start small income generating projects and work hard towards managing bigger projects.
