Gakenke: Actions speak louder than words – Mayor

Different partners in development in Gakenke district are attending open day of their compositions, projects and services as a way of showing the public what they do to them.

The 2 days exposition started on Tuesday the 26th.Feb.2013 in Gakenke town and was attended by NGOs, financial institutions, farming cooperatives, government levels, Secondary schools and private entrepreneurs.

“Exposition is an important thing… we decided to put it with the good governance month because actions speak louder than words” says Deo Nzamwita the mayor of Gakenke district in his speech on the opening of this exposition.

The mayor asked people to attend this exposition to learn what is done for them, give ideas and correct what is wrong for better service delivery.

 

Most of the people, organizations and companies that participated in this exposition work in this district. Services delivered and projects achieved were among the things in the exposition and some used images and videos for their messages to be delivered and well understood.

Technical schools were in attendance of this exposition as students showed their parents what they learn in the schools that will improve their lifestyles and that will take their district and the country in general to development.

Egide Shingiro the director of Lycée Catholique de Mataba says through the exposition, students practice what they learn. In Gakenke district, there are about 70 Non-Government based Organizations and 20 of them are international.
