The main goal for the Taxes Awareness Week is to remind tax payers to pay their taxes on time to avoid fines and punishment that follows on delays. This was announced by Musanze district management during the official opening of the Taxes Awareness Week on Monday the 4th.March.2013.
Jerome Mugenzi the vice mayor for finance and economic development in Musanze district said this is the time to encourage tax payers to pay their taxes on time and remind them of the expectations of the law that governs taxpaying.
“We will take time to get to everybody to see if they do well what they are meant to do and find out if they do so according to the law” the vice mayor said.
During the opening of the Taxes Awareness Week, traders and other taxpayers were explained about patent taxes, duties and the revenues expected by the law are whether it what is received in the district or in the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), for the better taxpaying.
“In this week, we will sensitize people the effects of not paying taxes on time and how the law that governs tax payment can be respected in Musanze district” says Jerome Mugenzi.
The function to start the Tax Awareness week in Musanze district was attended by leaders in the district, RRA representatives in the district as well as in Northern Province of Rwanda.
