JADF and cooperative representatives in Gatsibo District attending a retreat
Cooperatives in Gatsibo District are set to work with the Joint Action Development Forum (JADF) to promote job creation program, District officials said on Wednesday.
The new step was made during the closure of a two day retreat in Rugarama Sector in Gatsibo District Wednesday 26th February 2014
The retreat gathered cooperative representatives in Gatsibo, Directors of Financial institutions and Gatsibo district administration.
The retreat discussed about cooperative rules and regulations, management, rights of the members and how to work with financial institutions.
During the closure, Vice Mayor for economic affairs in Gatsibo district Isaie Habarurema, said cooperatives in Gatsibo have taken a tremendous step in development.
The mayor urged partners in development to put more effort into helping cooperatives achieve social-economic development.
“Before, residents did not like forming cooperatives. It came to our understanding that it was due to their failure to understand their rights as cooperative share holders,” He said.
Development partners have been active for day to day development activities in Gatsibo district.
