National Women’s Council (NWC) organized training for women and youth on cooperative management, the move aimed at promoting Youth and Women in the country
The two day training was held on February 20th 2014 and gathered 10 women cooperatives and three youth cooperatives in Gatsibo district.
Good management of the cooperative property leads to the social economic development of its members, according to trainers.
‘Women cooperatives’ came from Kiramuruzi, Muhura, Kageyo, Gatsibo, Gitoki, Rwimbogo, Ngarama, Kiziguro, Kabarore and Rugarama sectors while three ‘Youth cooperatives’ were from Rwimbogo and Murambi sectors in Gatsibo district.
The purpose of the training was to equip the residents on cooperative management and cooperative rules and regulations work.
Solange Bamurange, who represented National Women’s Council (NWC) in Gatsibo district, told the participants to put more effort in cooperative management in their home sectors.
Bamurange revealed to them that it’s planned that some amount of money will be set aside to support three best performing cooperatives every financial year.
Jean Baptiste Bagiruwiha, one of the participants and head of ‘Hirwa Muhinzi’ cooperative in Rugarama sector asserted that this training is of great use to them because it will enable them in cooperative management and development.
